For Central Government bodies, all tender documents and contracts over £10,000 awarded from 1st January 2011 must be published.  However, commercially sensitive or personal information may need to be redacted before publication is possible.

Redaction has become particularly relevant in light of new transparency requirements imposed on Local Councils and Central Government Bodies.  Redaction is used to securely and irreversibly blank out non-disclosable information and metadata.
